Prepare to see fewer stories from applications in News Feed, as Facebook announced a change to its News Feed algorithm that will emphasize what it calls explicitly shared stories from apps, or stories that users share by taking explicit actions, and cut back on implicitly shared stories, or stories automatically shared by apps without actions by the users.
Send To Mobile
Facebook added a “send to mobile” button to its app center last May in an effort to help drive application installs, and last August, the social network tested a similar option in the hover card that appears when users move their cursors over app-related stories in their News Feeds. Now, it appears that the social network is testing a send to mobile button directly within News Feed.
Facebook continues to experiment with ways to help developers drive downloads of their applications, extending the “send to mobile” button it added to its app center in May to the hover card that appears when users move the cursors over app-related stories in their news feeds.
Facebook issued an update for developers on its app center, saying that seven of the top-10-grossing applications for Apple iOS devices and five of the top 10 Android apps are integrated with the social network, and perhaps prodding the remaining three and five, respectively, in the process.
