<title>Facebook News Feed Placement Is All About Relevancy</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://allfacebook.com/files/2012/08/facebooklogo.jpeg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-97644" style="margin: 10px;" title="facebooklogo" src="http://allfacebook.com/files/2012/08/facebooklogo.jpeg" alt="" width="180" height="180" /></a>Facebook&#8217;s <a href="http://allfacebook.com/takei-to-take-on-facebooks-algorithm-in-upcoming-book_b104124" target="_blank">algorithm</a>, which decides what users see and when, has become a hot topic in recent months as the company tweaks it to ensure that users see the content with which they&#8217;d be most likely to engage. During a meeting Friday with selected members of the media, Facebook representatives explained that there&#8217;s <a href="http://allfacebook.com/postrocket-edgerank-reach_b101490" target="_blank">no malicious intent</a> with the changes in its algorithm. Based on how users have engaged with posts in the past, Facebook wants users to see what kinds of stories they&#8217;d be most willing to like, comment on, and share.</p>

What if you want to do more? Several companies are filling the gap and making a statement with social gifting, allowing people to give real-life presents to their friends. While entities such as <a href="http://allfacebook.com/wrapp-us_b87406" target="_blank">Wrapp</a> and <a href="http://allfacebook.com/gifties-toluna_b100184" target="_blank">Gifties</a> are getting a foothold in the market, <a href="http://newsroom.fb.com/News/Introducing-Facebook-Gifts-1bd.aspx" target="_blank">Facebook announced Thursday the launch of Gifts</a>, a native program where users can give things such as Gund teddy bears, Starbucks gift cards, and <em>Star Wars</em> flash drives.</p>

<title>Star Wars Meets Facebook</title>

<p><!--end-lead-note-->Last week CollegeHumor <a href='http://www.collegehumor.com/article:1794889'>posted</a> a pretty entertaining rendition of what it would be like if the Star Wars characters had access to Facebook.  My personal favorite is of the Storm Trooper&#8217;s status update which says &#8220;was forced to kill a giant teddy bear.  FML.&#8221;  While there have been numerous fake status update threads posted around the web, I found this series to be particularly entertaining.  You can view the full series below.<br />
