Myriad reports have said that Facebook has a problem with teen users eschewing the site for social networks such as Tumblr. A few sources have reported Friday that Yahoo may be trying to purchase Tumblr, but Facebook could also be in these discussions, as well. According to AllThingsD, Yahoo is rumored to be willing to pay up to $1 billion to purchase Tumblr, but Forbes and GigaOM think that Facebook could swoop in and add the blogging site. However, it’s unlikely that Facebook will get the chance.
Is Facebook on another acquisition binge? Just days after announcing that the team from storytelling social network Storylane would join the social network, the company announced its acquisition of San Francisco- and New York-based design agency Hot Studio in a note on the Facebook Design page.
In what some people are calling a challenge to blogging site Tumblr, Facebook has acquired storytelling social network Storylane. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Storylane announced the acquisition Friday. According to Mashable, the Storylane team will join Facebook’s timeline team, but Facebook will not gain any data from Storylane.
