National Geographic blew away the competition in October according to the latest rankings of publishers’ actions generated on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram by social media benchmarking and audience engagement analysis company Shareablee.
Bluetooth-speaker manufacturer Jam Wireless Audio may have been one of the first brands to tap the new Hyperlapse time-lapse video application from Instagram for marketing purposes, but it now has plenty of company, as the Facebook-owned photo- and video-sharing network shared some more examples in a post on the Instagram for Business blog.
Several brands marked Halloween Thursday with holiday-related photos and videos on Instagram, including the image to the left of a dark, shadowy BMW, and the photo atop the post from State Bicycle Co. of a witch riding one of its bikes into the night.
Facebook Weekly Highlights features photos posted to the social network by celebrities and athletes. This week’s edition featured the photo to the right, of endurance swimmer Diana Nyad celebrating in Key West after completing a record-breaking swim from Cuba to the U.S.; as well as the trunk of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk (below) prior to Labor Day weekend, filled with, oddly enough, skateboards.
Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg spoke of the importance that mobile will play in the social network’s evolution in a wide-ranging interview with board member Marc Andreessen and talk-show host Charlie Rose Tuesday at IAB MIXX, the annual event held during Advertising Week 2012 in New York, and the interview was broadcast via the Facebook Marketing Talks live channel.
