Facebook officially confirmed reports earlier this week that page administrators can now target their page posts by various criteria, and not just location and language.

As reported earlier this week, the criteria apply only to the news feed, and all posts will remain visible on timeline. Posts can now be targeted by:

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Interested in
  • Relationship status
  • Language
  • Education
  • Workplace
  • Location (country, state, city)

In confirming the launch of the new feature, the social network said:

This will allow advertisers to more efficiently reach the right fans and increase the relevancy for people when they see page posts in their news feed, which overall leads to increases in engagement rates for page posts.
