Facebook commerce provider Milyoni is bringing another film to the social network prior to its release in theaters: Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie.
The film will livestream on Facebook next Saturday, February 18, at 6 p.m. Pacific Time. However, the trailer for the movie, embedded below, says the flick will come become available “on demand” starting January 27.
Most likely the on demand version won’t include all the extra features that Milyoni’s adding to the Facebook livestream.
While the flick is playing on Facebook, fans can use Milyoni’s Social Live technology to chat with stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. Viewers will also be able to access exclusive content and watch the movie with their Facebook friends.
The livestream of Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie will cost $9.99, payable via PayPal. The Magnolia Pictures release hits theaters March 2.
We think there’s something ironic about a billion-dollar flick debuting on Facebook for a mere $2.00 less than what it would cost in theaters, but perhaps that’s deliberate humor.
Meanwhile, readers, does watching a movie on Facebook ahead of a theater premiere appeal to you?
