Voting Blocks Facebook App Launched To Encourage Supporters

This has been the most social election in history, and Facebook is at the center of it all. Fight for the Future, an Internet freedom advocacy group, is tapping into that power with Voting Blocks, a Facebook application that helps organizations encourage their supporters to spread the word about voting on issues.

Through this app (which is available within the Vote with Friends app), organizations on Facebook can set up “voting blocks,” which allow organizations, communities, and groups to encourage their fans to vote. As voters confirm that hey have voted or pledge to vote, organizations can display a measure of their electronic electoral influence to legislators, the media, and the public.

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Rebuild the Dream will utilize this technology starting Thursday.

Ian Kim, managing director of Rebuild the Dream, detailed in a press release how the app will help:

Using new tools like Voting Blocks is part of our core mission to empower our members. We’re excited to see how our members use these new tools to make their electoral impact even bigger, simply by activating their personal networks.
