Facebook Testing Want Button?

Do you want a want button on Facebook? Your desires may be met, as developer Tom Waddington discovered an XFBML tag for one within the Facebook JavaScript software development kit.

Waddington said the button will render, although developers are not able to publish want actions, telling sister blog Inside Facebook the button will only work on open graph objects marked as products.

Developers can currently create their own want actions, but they must also authorize third-party applications to generate stories on users’ timelines and news feeds.

As Inside Facebook pointed out, a want button could be especially helpful for retailers and other ecommerce sites to mine information on the types of products that users and potential shoppers are interested in.
