Facebook For Windows Phone Beta Update: 256-MB Devices Now Supported

Most of the attention on the mobile side at Facebook goes to iOS and Android, but the social network hasn’t forgotten about its Windows Phone users, as it released an update to its beta application that supports devices with as few as 256 megabytes of random-access memory, down from the previous requirement of 512 MB.

Neowin reported that Microsoft Corporate Vice President and Manager for Windows Phone Program Management Joe Belfiore sent the following tweet Saturday:

New #FB Beta for #WP7 and #WP8. not just bug fixes and perf… Also now available on 256MB phones! http://www.windowsphone.com/s?appid=93da5d29-daf0-4783-9ed5-a87b33247ec6 …

Neowin said the updated beta app will not show up in the Windows Phone store, but it can be downloaded here, adding that the update also includes a fix to a bug that caused the notifications count to not clear even after users viewed the notifications, as well as performance boosts.
