How Retailers On Facebook Can Prepare For Black Friday, Cyber Monday

MultiplatformCyberMonday650With less than one week until Black Friday, and Cyber Monday shortly thereafter, Facebook application developer Woobox offered some tips on how brands on the social network can incorporate coupons into their promotional efforts.

Woobox offered the following Black Friday suggestions in a post on its blog:

  • Offer Facebook users who like pages a dollar discount or percentage off purchases, and make those offers exclusive to Facebook fans.
  • Offer door-buster coupons or early entry passes to ensure a quick start to the shopping day.
  • Free coffee and donuts for coupon-holders.
  • Mystery discounts that can only be redeemed in-person.

And for Cyber Monday, Woobox suggested:

  • Discounts for online purchases.
  • Free shipping for online purchases.
  • Offer limited-quantity items or sales exclusively to Facebook fans.
  • Limit the number of coupons available for download.
  • Limit the time period during which coupons are available.
  • Make Cyber Monday coupons one-time-use only.

Woobox concluded about the two huge shopping days:

Brick-and-mortar retailers are no strangers to coupons to drive traffic and sales to their physical locations, but coupons can be used for more than just a percent-off discount — they can be used to create excitement and inspire visits to your physical location. Fans can either print the coupon to present in store, or download a QR code that can be scanned at checkout. The key to a successful coupon promotion is to offer something exclusive that will make their shopping experience easier and/or more enjoyable.

Online retailers have to battle a very different kind of traffic to get shoppers in to their virtual storefront. The competition is fierce, and the Internet is a mass of retailers competing for business. You need a competitive edge, and a coupon offer that is exclusive to your Facebook fans could be just the trigger your business needs.
