Facebook Still Dominates World Map Of Social Networks

The World Map of Social Networks has been updated to reflect June 2012 statistics, and it was posted on Vincos Blog. You likely won’t be surprised that Facebook still reigns supreme globally.

Out of the 137 countries studied, the largest social network leads in 126. All in all, Facebook chest-beats a King Kong 845 million active users in the countries analyzed, and more than 900 million total.

New players, however are appearing on the horizon. The map pinpoints the traction of 17 social networks, including Badoo (runner up in Austria, Belgium, France and other European countries), Orkut (No. 2 in Brazil), Odnoklassniki (No. 1 in Russia, where Facebook ranks third behind VKontakte), and Tuenti (No. 2 in Spain).

In China, where Facebook is blocked, it is not ranked. Instead, Qzone, Tencent Weibo, and Sina Weibo take the top slots.

We recently covered an infographic that also shows Facebook’s penetration into the Arab nations, as well as the social network’s potential for growth in Japan and South Korea.
